Remember that awesome scene from Back to the Future, Part II where Marty Mcfly travels 30 years into the future from 1985 to see what 2015 looks like? Sure, director and screenwriter Robert Zemeckis may have been slightly off with flying cars and hoverboards, but hey, he did get some stuff right (check out http://www.ksl.com/?nid=1012&sid=28749990)! The real question is, what will our future be like 20+ years from now? Here’s your chance to explore this question! You and a group of 23ish other middle school students (grades 6-8) will use the following question, “What will society value in 2040?” as a guide to create an aspect of “the future.” You will be tasked to figure out what element of society you wish to explore (through the incorporation of requirements that your core teacher will give you) and then, as a group, work to construct a display for our AISU FutureCon 2040. We will be modeling our final product similar to the types of activities at ComicCon (e.g. discussion panels, booths, items for sale, famous people, etc.) so feel free to get creative. Good luck!
